Asp gridview rowupdating event
I have a gridview control and I have added a row click event which causes a post back. I want to use standard controls (Textbox, Dropdownlist) to record the values into a gridview (ie,put multiple rows into the gridview using the controls). I want to update the modified rows to the Database. Thanks Ashok Hi Ashok, the Grid View control has its own mechanism for updating and deleting rows.Do you have some sort of Java Script functionality that may be stopping it? A common problem people have with Grid Views is understanding when to data bind the data source to the Grid View.-Frinny Hi all, I seem to be having the same issue but I don't quite follow the trouble with the above post. Can you explain the T/S a little more or maybe point me to another post that may have already covered it? Hi all, I seem to be having the same issue but I don't quite follow the trouble with the above post. Can you explain the T/S a little more or maybe point me to another post that may have already covered it? It's quite common that people create the data source and bind this source to the Grid View in their Page_Load() method.I am using a SQLData Source to populate my gridview in ASP. When I hit Edit, the textboxes appear and I am able to edit my values. I am using a SQLData Source to populate my gridview in ASP. When I hit Edit, the textboxes appear and I am able to edit my values. In the Row Editing function, the edit textboxes appear and I can get the "old" values Then the page renders, I edit the textboxes and hit Update. When I hit Update, the changes are not saved, and there is no error message. When I hit Update, the changes are not saved, and there is no error message. Then the page posts back, the text boxes go back to being labels and the new values are lost, and the Row Updating code never fires. Yes, I did put the breakpoint at the Row Updating line (and not in the function).
You have to make sure that you aren't setting your Grid View's data when it is not postback.
If you are using command buttons, then do not use Auto Generate Edit Button.
Greetings; I have read several of the previous help questions on when the grid View Row Updating event doesn't fire. The Row Update event will load a copy of the product table from the database after successfully updating a row.
The Edit, Delete and Insert events work as I expect. The markup and code behind are as follows: Hi cpkilekofp; I removed the Insert command button and put in an event for Command to see if the Update button press in the grid View control would trigger the Command event - it did not. My markup and code look as follows and the Update event is not firing: Hi cpkilekofp; I removed the On Row Updating from the Grid View definition - to no avail. David I added a stub for the grid View Row Command event and set a breakpoint. Placed breakpoints at Row Command, Row Editing and Row Updating. Much thanks to cpkilekofp and informaniac for their time and effort in trying to debug this problem for me.
I have a break on the Sub statement for the Row Updating handler ... The Edit and Cancel buttons fire the Row Command event, however, the Update button does not. No breakpoint was triggered when I hit the Update button. I truly appreciate all the suggestions you've given. I have my Subs that do this fine when not inside the Grid View, but what is the correct way to do it whilst they are in the Grid View? So for instance when I select Heavy Sort as a next process step only heavy sort shows up. Hello all, I just posted a message yesterday, there is no one replied to me.
